Parked at the roadside viewpoint car park on the A4061 overlooking Llyn Fawr. Shortish walk (1.5miles) to the trig. Lovely views whilst en-route to the pillar, but with the trig being located in a managed forest of Japanese larch (I think), there are no views from the pillar itself. Also, due to the forest location, the pillar is moss and lichen encrusted. Otherwise it's in good condition; 3 sight holes sealed, 1 open (slowly filling with moss); original cap is missing and no plug.

As Shorty and Extra Shorty accompanied me through the mist we agreed there probably would be a good view from the nearby edge, but there isn't a great deal to see except for trees around the trig itself which is on a bank above the forest road. Glamorgan's highest point has mountain bike access and there is a mobile cafe usually parked at the car park on the hairpins which is probably the most convenient point to stop to visit this trig.
