2 inch bolt in centre of roof, visible from ground but scrambled up to clear willow. P at road junction then SW along road to access field, stile a harder climb than roof! Cattle pasture

bolt with willow encroaching

A grey, damp November morning, I was dropped at the field entrance opposite 'The Elms' and stomped off across the boggy field to the trig. A small brick building, about 2 metres square, with a substantial flat concrete roof, the bolt eminent in the centre. Entrance on south-east side once had 2 substantial doors (posts remain) and a lip to prevent ingress of water, other 3 sides have small apertures for ventilation.

Cable House
The bolt
Cable House and overhead cable. Stile in good condition but now pointless.
The view south-east. Hinxhill church spire, (TP 25291) just about visible.
The interior.

Passed by here a countless number of times over the years, noticed this small building and guessed (wrongly) that it may have been a shepherd's hut, a WW1/2 pill box or even something to do with The Royal Observer Corps. At the time of writing the field is down to crops, not a good time to visit. There is an entrance to the field further down the road to the south-west, where the footpath enters the field.
