1/3 from Black Hill car park. Walked up along the Cats Back ridge. Brilliant views of Offa’s Dyke and the Olchon Valley to the left, and Malverns to the right. Pillar sits in a ditch that looks like it may get wet at some times. Pillar in good condition with spider and FB intact.

Parked by the picnic table symbol near Blackhill Farm and walked up the steep ridge to the trig point. Great views today and very little wind. Carried on along the path to a small pile of stones then turned sharp left down into the Olchon Valley and walked back to the car on the quiet road. Excellent day out.

A walk up The Cats Back and along the ridge. Clear views on both sides but a bit hazy in the distance. It’s concrete base is standing above ground level and was completely dry around it today

Good steep walk up along "The Cats Back" ridge and up a short rise to trig (40 mins) Trig sitting in a moat of water today. Spider and Flush Bracket in place but no view at all just mist but a super walk along the ridge! Face in spider did make me laugh though, plug filled! Onto Hay Buff for number 2.

Was going to stop at trig for lunch but a large school party had the same idea, so I had lunch nearby and returned to trig point afterwards. Heading on via the excelent ridge known as the Cats Back to reach Longtown.

The mist finally lifted, we had lunch around what the trig had aquired as a moat! You can see the Cats back from here, the secret SAS base and a lovely 360 I think we could see pen y fan and corn du, we're trying to get bearings on a map since!

Having walked from Pen-Y-Beacon trig we returned the way we came. Caught in a blizzard which turned us into snowmen. Half an hour later and we were back in sunshine.

Didn't even stop to photograph this trig as wind blowing extremely hard, difficult to keep on my feet, and also raining cats and dogs. Not a pleasant day. Needless to say no views, but bagged it anyway.

Walked up the fantastic Cats Back with Zoe. Warm,sunny day with amazing views.Then we carried on to re-visit Hay Bluff & returned via Offas Dyke path along Hatterall Ridge,finally descending the beatuiful Olchon Vally.Also bagged Little Black HIll at 394m. Feel proud that i live in the highest county in southern England (703m). NB - this is HIGHER than Dartmoor, which many people wrongly claim to be the highest point & I find this quite annoying!!

Took bike as far as possible and then a bit of a vertical yomp up from the east. Well worth it though, especially as this is an undisputed Herefordshire trig in the Black Mountains.

Really is lovely up here on a clear day,warm{ish}but not busy ,and time to enjoy the amazing views back across Black Mountains and as far as Clee Hill in Shropshire.Great place.

This is a pleasant detour off the main ridge along which the Offas Dyke path goes. Smashing vies of the rolling farmland below. The trig stands on an eroded concrete base and the plug is missing.

Been up here a few times.. First was during a hot summer carrying a bike to aid my walk out to Abergavenny Railway Station.. Not an entire skive as I rode there from the other side of Leominster. All to finally bag the county summit. Black Hill as it is usualy known is a narrow spur off the Cat's Back ridge and although with little drop, is quite a fine wee summit. This is Herefordshire's highest trig,and the highest in Southern England, but the county top is over on the border, an unmarked bog up at 703m.
