Parked at sawmill gate. Up track, right at junction on forest tracks (shown on 1:25000 map) to the north. Then an unsurfaced mucky track to within a few metres of the trig. Descent to south picking up a grassy track back to main forest track. Corner damaged. Dudley's first trig!

Easy access from the Saw Mill. Took the right hand track then where the burn crosses the track, turned uphill on a bearing for the trig. On the return, came down on a bearing from the trig to the cairn at ~ 941206, turned left onto the track, then back to the start. Social distancing important despite being married :) because husband’s phone deflects my compass! (Even though it’s in his rucsac.)

#470 P#269 P2016#69. Parked on the main road at entrance to track. Walked up to house and took left gate and followed track to fork. Took left track and followed track and spotted old forestry vehicle tracks at n57 25.848 w003 45.821. Followed these to first, cut through and followed them again to not far from the trig. Nice n easy. Saw loads of roe deer and heard a capercaillie.

Pronounced craig-an-eeoch and meaning 'Rock of the Raven'. Parked at the disused gate at the sawmill same as BigJ. Headed up the large forestry track and took the left hand turn up the hill to the locked gate. Think I located the Cairn shown on the map and carried on up the hill, hoping to find a track heading off to the right up to the trig. Plenty of forestry tracks but nothing looking promising, so I just took a bearing and off I went. Ended up on the wrong mound and had to head across and up the crags to find the trig, so pleased to arrive in daylight. Heading off the hill strange things started to happen with my GPSr, no matter what direction I headed in, the pointer just wanted me to go in the opposite direction. Decided to just head off the hill avoiding the crags to the West (which only show on the 1:25 map) and I knew I'd eventually find the track.

Log #2. Like Trigger, I came in from the south, parking in the small clearing after the gate. I took the same route - turning left at the junction and following it around. There is a gate across the Landrover track that looks fairly new. Not long after that, I took a right and headed up the hill just after a tree with orange spraypaint markings (wasn't me, I promise!). My GPS reception was a little patchy, so I pretty much just kept heading north through the forest for about 0.6 miles. No view at all, still satisfying to log though. I did take a couple of photos (one of the pillar, and one of the plate), but neither seemed to have saved. Trig is in good condition, although paint is a bit faded, and spider is quite mossy. As has been mentioned, don't veer too far to the west when heading back down, as there are some fairly hairy slopes. I didn't notice the cairn at NH9404220559 on the way back, but it was getting pretty dark by that point. It must have been an amazing view of the Cairngorms before the forest grew around the trig. A great walk through pine forest with wife and daughter who were less enthusiastic than I. Dont expect a view from the top, it would have been spectacular at one time no doubt, but is now lost to the trees.

In Inverness the snow has all but gone. Didn't think would be bad near carrbridge but was wrong. Still 2 ft of snow.. therefor had fun climbing up from Drumuillie. Apart from snow it was a reasonably easy trek. View obscured by trees

Trig surrounded by snow..will it ever melt!?

No problem really in the dark. GPS reception is quite good through the trees. Here's how it's done... Off the A95 at NH9426019952 up the short domestic road that turns square right but also leads straight on to a track through a gate towards the forest. I spoke to the occupants of the house nearest the track who advised that it's acceptable to drive the short distance up the track, about 200m where there's a turning area and room for parking. It's not 4x4 stuff as there was a BWM Mini parked there when I visited. Don't forget to shut the gate behind you though! Walk up the track about 400m to the junction and follow the track left. When you reach the summit of the track mark your position for the return journey! Follow your GPS to the trig but watch your footing as there's no distinguishable tracks so it's cross country all the way. On the return journey that all important mark for the track is essential as to bear to far to the west will present you with some sheer drops and crags to content with! Good luck!

Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented lettering. The flush bracket faces ESE. Left and back sight holes open. Total wood coverage so no view, but a lovely tranquil place to be. Incidently, having now conquered S7411 means that I have visited all trig pillars in the range S7378 to S7414 inclusive (now S7369 to S7420), my longest (52) run of consecutive FBs. This exercise cannot now be repeated with subsequent demise of S7404 and S7416.
