Active station is still present, excluded from the compound. The Leica dome is somewhat discoloured. Overcast, breezy day but remaining dry. A few days ago, a BBC weather forecast mentioned the temperature at Shap. This met station would be where the reading originated from.

Like others before me, I am surprised it isn't in the Met Office compound. Its exclusion makes it easy peasy to get up close and inspect....instead of peering from street corners or multi storey car parks (Carlisle & Newcastle). I am giving today's quarry to the triggers who went out today. It is Xmas day!!!

A special trig for so many reasons. First visit to Cumbria since Feb, glorious stormy skies, first sundew of the year having missed out on Scotland in April, the ghost of Richard Griffiths up on the hillside with the concrete ring above and also a hello to Tebay services. A handsome, rugged, difficult place.

Very recent installation but surprisingly located outside the Met Office compound which, in itself, has been very recently mown. Cable from active station runs into Met Office compound presumably to comms readings via microwave located on adjacent mast.
