For the gird reference I’ve used the ‘Bailiwick of Guernsey, States of Guernsey Official Map’ which uses a Guernsey Grid, at a 1:10000 scale for Alderney. The 6 figure reference is: 627734. The box is located in a pasture field midway between two footpaths, easy seen from both, trig East of large WW2 bunker. Access just dip under a single wire fence at field entrance point

Very good condition pillar, no FB. Visible from surrounding footpaths, easily accessible over farmland (no tresspass law here). Unfortunately didn't get a chance to search for other trigs on the island this visit.

Hotine pillar (spider with standard OS centre plug, but no FB and only one vent hole) on top of military bunker just above natural ground level, in farmland, accessible via track from village. Chance find. Since learned there's another on Essex Hill http://www.geograph.org.gg/photo/965 and a third at far W of Alderney somewhere S of Clonque fort

Chance find whilst investigating Alderney's high point. Located on W side of grass covered probable WWII bunker. Pristine Hotine pillar with stadard spider but no FB; one sight hole - open. Lat/long: 49.71036°N, 2.19806°W. Nearby, on the bunker roof was found a survey plate emplaced by 512 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (512 STRE) dated 1976. Suspect 512STRE carried out the survey with possibly expertise (either in the field or not) supplied by the OS. See also TP25774.

Early morning visit after getting on the bikes by 04:30. Sun rising as we visit the alternative island high point and stunned to find this hotine trig in great condition.
