All intact. Minor chip around spider. Farmhand gave permission to drive track. I was then chased by the farmer on quad bike telling me it was too muddy to get to the river and advised me to go the other way, via stile at cottages. All very friendly.

With my fellow baggers, parked at Polwhilly cottage, through gate (N54 55.158' W4 25.461'), around field edge to style (N54 55.158' W4 25.299') and onto bank, followed bank around across a couple of field boundaries which involved a bit of crawling and ducking under barbed wire fences with possible electrication, although not tested, then onto trig. Good one to share with fellow baggers. Cut benchmark on cottage

A joint visit with coinea and thejackrustles. This pillar hides on the river side of the flood bank so is not visible until one gets close. There were nice views of the estuary.

Lovely location and plenty of birds. Parked across from Polwhilly Cottage, then across waterlogged field to stile to access flood defence which can be walked along to trig.

Farmers wife at Grange of Cree (to SW) unwilling to let me walk thru' fields due to bulls and cows in field - very frisky. Told to access river bank via hidden stile @ NX 45135 59153 (opposite cottages). Stile to left of garage, by telegraph pole

HISTORY: Pillar completed 28th October 1954 costing 24.19s.0d. Levelled for height in 1956. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NX56/DM/T17 by distomat observation in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in June 1985. SITE VISIT: Parked in layby on west side of road at NX451597. Through gate 100m south then ENE across three empty grazing fields, across complicated ditch in field corners at NX459601 then NE along boundary line to trig. Could not get rid of cattle, then the bigger beast with the deeper voice and ring through his nose started getting lively. Had to dig out FB. Low evening sun made photography tricky. Cattle getting too near tripod for my liking. Electric fences enroute not energised. Quite a challenging trig for one just under 5m above sea level. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces 271 west. Vented through south sight hole. Open upward outlook to surrounding hills.

vgc, metal cap, wide raised letters. Hiding at river side of levee. Salty pasture. FB needed digging out to reveal number. One of those trigs where the only view is upwards.
