Walked N.West on bridleway which starts south of Primrose house, then north on a footpath around edge of wood to the track from primrose house. Then continue along the track to the corner of the trig field. The trig point is round to the left on the edge of the field.

Pulled over at field entrance at north east end of Lamyatt village at gate to footpath across field. Through gate then headed uphill north east. Fairly steep climb, over leaning fence at tree line then tried finding a trail through gorse and trees to top. At top pillar visible a few metres into field. Badly damaged by frost. Good views to west.

Easy to locate and access from the east, not so easy from the west. Next to large silage heap so a bit smelly. Damage to top of pillar is quite extensive and I think warrants a damaged, rather than slightly damaged status. Views to east and north excellent. Visited while walking Old Sarum to Glastonbury ancient trackway.

Accessed via farm track to S of 3 large newish houses (conversions from The Mill buildings?). Pillar, in rough pasture, badly damaged, looks like a decapitation has been attempted with ends of 2 spider arms exposed; large area of screed missing on rear face; and numerous fractures, large and small. Damage seems far more extensive than warrants a 'slightly damaged' classification so have up-graded it. Original cap in place, lightly indented lettering; RHD side sight hole open. Good views in most directions; obscured E.

Parked on lane leading to Creech Hill Farm. Progress hampered by scrub after I left the public footpath. Easiest access to the Iron Age enclosure through the fence facing southwest; the eastern approach involves negotiating a ditch with 5 foot nettles. Fantastic views of this corner of Somerset, well worth the inconvenience.

We parked at the sharp bend on the road between Lamyatt and Milton Clevedon. We took the path for a bit then headed up the hill. Head to the left of the bamboo plants (how did they get there?) and get over the fence best you can. Once on the top it's easy going. Still some vestiges of dung, which must be very corrosive, as the pillar has lost quite a bit of its surface rendering.
