Milepost now toppled. Parked at the junction of Ashford Road and Bethersden Road and walked to the TP alongside a busy road with no footpath.

A benchmark rivet atop old milestone (shown on 1872 25" map), S side road. Parking not really feasible on the A28, so stopped in a field entrance at TQ 94234 39507. Milestone plate is missing, would have read Tenterden 7 / Ashford 5. Its Milestone Society ID is KE_TTAF07, and the Benchmark dBase record is https://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm114823

As per OS BM description, rivet on milestone S side of road. Rivet is BM type i.e. no centre punch mark. MS was hidden in deep vegetation but soon found, 1m S of road edge. MS is damaged i.e. evidently used to have metal plate on front, which is now gone leaving traces of fixings. From BM/trig aspect, the rivet is undamaged and the MS stable and upright. Beware busy road, feasible parking along side road to east.
