Walked up from Abercrave Inn. I used to walk on the lower slopes with my Gran 50+ years ago and always wanted to get to the top. Finally made it!

Missed bus at Craig-y-nos by 10 min , next one in 2hrs! so climbed Cribarth. Up top, strange semi industrial quarried landscape, "the sleeping giant". Pillar on giants head. Onward down to Abercrave and the Abercrave Inn. Caught bus.

14 mile leg stretch from Glyntawe doing Bwlch Y Ddau-Wynt pillar first and a few hills. Very soggy ground and streams running high so wet feet for the day. Pillar is located to south side of a large shelter cairn. It sports an old coat of dirty whitewash; has structural damage to one vertical edge; is fractured on front and LHD face; and has much chipping to the top edges. Central top cap is missing, no plug; all sight holes open. Extensive panoramic views.

Parked at the Craig-y-nos country park car park (pay & display, sadly) and walked up the row past Nantygwared Farm, complete with its manic dogs, then tracks to the trig. Excellent limestone scenery around the trig and a good view.

Parked in layby just S of Craig Y Nos on A4067. Familiar ground as my dad was evacuated to Ystradgynlais as a kid and remember visits down here from 25 years ago. Walk in on bridleway (notshown on map) . Ignore bridleway after 20m , continue on path, cross fence then straight uphill following fenceline. At high point take any of numerous paths going SE. Confusing hill in the mist. Today great views and perfect walking conditions.Pillar has some grafitti and cracks but otherwise not too bad condition.
