Parked in a nearby housing estate and followed the lane to the masts, climbed over two gates and crossed the field to the trees where the trigpoint lies.

Excellent advice from Gower Lad. The trig is under the trees in the opposite corner of the field from the mast compound gates. I followed the hedges around and found it easily. Good spot for some lunch. The hardest part was getting the car somewhere near Parkwall Road. Eventually drove up Pentwyn Road and Croescadarn Road and parked in the entrance to the playing fields near St Mellons Road. Easy walk up lane with views of Twmbarlwm and Mynydd Machen.

Tried a couple of times over the year but finally found it yesterday evening, I was looking to far right of hedgerow. Great to finally find a trig point so close to home!

Thanks to everyone who rediscovered this pillar; a great find! Recent electricity cabling work at the radio mast compound means there are just two robust gates to climb over rather than a gate and a barbed wire fence.

Although sigh up saying road closed, we could drive as far as the junction at Parkwell Road. Walked as far as mast and entered over gate and wire fence. Found trig ‘laid to rest’ under tree. Thanks to Peregrinus for bonus find.

walk up minor road from built up area to south. Road is very narrow with a few passing places. At masts there is gate to mast compound and fence to corner of field. On hedge line in diagonally opposite corner of field (to SW) is a distinctive clump of small trees/high shrubs. The pillar is under this clump on the S side of the hedge with a small pile of stones probably cleared from field. fence/hedge to S field down near lane end. Good find!

Currently difficult road approach from Junct.30 on M4. Church Road (favoured by my Sat. Nav. and GPS) now has a housing estate built upon it. Needed to access via St Mellons Road. Once parked on minor road to NE, pillar easy to view from S side of hedge/fence. Photos a great help.
