Tasked by the YDNPA, who have adopted this trig point, to give it a coat of paint as it was 5 years or so ago when it was last painted. From a distance it looked as if nothing needed to be done, but on close-up examination there were several places where a further coating was required. It certainly looked better after a repaint!

Second of three today (walked in from TP3579 - Halton Height) and what a cracker this one is. Set on the top of the crag with wide expansive views down into the Dales and views back to the moors. Painted white, so easy to spot on ascent and easy access due to plenty of ladder stile along the wall around the moor. Some damage to top corners but generally in good nick.

Damage to top of trig Some recent (since last painting) loss of top corners and cracking on top rim

Easily accessible and visible. I used the path up from Embsay Reservoir - not on my map but on the ground and signed Crookrise Crag. Visible on the way up but I almost walked past because it turned out to be on the other side of the wall. Ladder stile gives access. A lovely location with extensive views. A couple of my earlier visits, Skipton Moor and Sharp Haw very visible as were numerous other loctaions. Pillar painted white with original plug with indented lettering. Only one hole open

According to OS it's Crookrise (one word). Trig in pretty good condition - excellent view today. This is on access Land (before the new law) and there are loads of paths/tracks that are not shown on the OS map e.g. a very obvious path runs from the west end of Embsay reservoir, following the wall, straight up to the trig. Done on a Skipton circular via Embsay Cragg, the trig, Rylstone Cross, Cracoe War Memorial with a low level return to Skipton. Nice walk (18+ miles). Revisited on 7/10/06. No cars, on foot!
