PLEASE NOTE there is no public right of way leading on to Crowan Beacon or to this trigpoint. The footpath described by some users follows the fence line and diagonally crosses the field and does not lead to the Beacon. The alternative approach people have used in the past from the road to the west crosses private land and there is new livestock fencing which has been damaged by people attempting to climb it. Please do not attempt to visit this trigpoint.

Pillar has some interesting circular patterns of lichen but unfortunately no centre cap and the tube isn't plugged; front sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Extensive panoramic views.

2nd of 6 YSM's today. This is YSM0694. Rather than trespass and have to scale two gates and then barbed wire, I parked as instructed on the Geocache page for Geocache GC286T1. It suggests parking in Farms Common Road/Lane just passed the start of the footpath, (photo). Take the footpath to an unhinged, open, metal gate on your left and go through it. Then follow your nose or worn path to the top. No climbing over gates or barbed wire needed. Did the Geocache and then moved on to the Trig - easier to get to from the opposite side than the cache. Interesting spot here with its cairn close by. I wonder if the Ordnance Survey Team ever used it for shelter during their 20 day and night stay up here in the 1930's & 1940's?

The correct way to the trig. Start of footpath on Farms Common Road/Lane. This leads to the open gate to the entrance to the open access land the trig is on.©Spunky Spider

The pillar stands on a granite outcrop on a gorse covered hill to the south of Camborne. There is a stone carving of a squinting face propped up against the pillar below the FB. The thought of a knocker emerging into daylight crossed my mind. A square black polished stone is cemented over the middle of the spider; a 5mm diameter cylindrical peg protrudes 200mm from its centre. The heath land was accessed from a field to the south that is crossed by a public footpath. Several attempts were needed to find a walkable route through the gorse; it seems to be easier on the eastern side of the hill. It is definitely easier to pick a route for the descent. The trig has an impressive panorama of the surrounding rolling countryside.
