On same route as JG. Good views. Brief shelter from bitter wind in nearby shed.

Linear ridge walk from Glenbranter to Benmore. Pillar sits atop a rocky outcrop in a prominent position, especially when viewed from the S. Original top cap is retained, raised lettering; LHS sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Fine panoramic views of surrounding hills.

dismantled mast and steel hut nearby spoil the isolation, but full marks if you get this far!

vgc, metal cap, wide raised letters. On rocky grassy knoll too compact for a decent background looking NW. Small cabin nearby apparently belongs to dismantled mast; handy hints on mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. From N, car park at NS112975, nice wide grassy gully from 127960; another decent ascent which I used in 2000 starts at 118969. My final Cowal trig pillar.

Pillar good. Spider retains period OS plug with large narrow weathered lettering. LHS sight hole plugged others open, pillar bolt viewable. FB faces WNW ~290°. Completed 25th June 1956. Tertiary station T36 in Block NS29, Greenock. Approached from south directly from Beinn Mhor via Beinn Bheag top. The summit area involves complex route along narrow cliff edges on the east, not possible without climbing gear on the south, probably easiest from the west. 360° panorama. Storms further west including thunder, lightning and a tornado. Decended via the west which involved another tree fight and following a firebreak down to a lower track for a direct return to Glenbranter. Photographed 17/07/2007, GRP.
