Parked at Loch Tarsan east dam, walked 330m W along road to forestry track, up track for 100m to a telephone pole, then there is a path up the side of the burn opposite (small cairn at the start) through the forest, then grassy slopes all the way to the trig at top. Raining so no views.

Fine stone-built pillar. Came up from the road, parking at NS 0684 8296, following the forest vehicle track to its end, then a steep ascent through conifer plantation to take in Cruach nan Caorach first. Pillar retains an original top cap, deeply indented lettering; all sight holes open. Extensive panorama.

Overall approach from northwest. Parked without causing obstruction in track entrance at NS068829, south side of B836. Followed track to NS067817 and tried to follow steep eastward route up through a combination of heavy undergrowth, conifers, streams and bogs. Onto open hill following fragments sheep paths nominally ESE then NNE. Summit of rough grass and rock. Stone built pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces northwest, compass reading 327°. Vented through NE and SW sight holes, others breaking open, silhouette of bolt seen. 360° panorama of long views from here.

Good to see some stonework for a change. Good views to Lomond, Arrochar Alps and beyond. Also down Striven where there are still six tankers waiting out the trade downturn. Came from Cruach nan Capull but followed Rob's 2000 instructions for my descent: steep but workable and there is a bridge over the aqueduct.
