Followed the compass walking around the field trying to spot the pillar and then noticed it had moved. Correct co-ords for new location are N56 24.647 W003 34.095. Easy parking and easy access. Would have been quick if we'd gone straight to the actual location!

Now sitting quite happily on its concrete plinth on the south east side of the big field about120m from the eastern corner. You can drive up the lane and reverse off to park at an area of woodland opposite the northeast entrance to the field.

Easy walk up from Methven to find this moved pillar nicely positioned on its plinth. Interesting Parish Church in Methven; loved the pilastraded tower and spire, but like so many Scottish churches it has to be admired from outside because the majority of them are firmly locked.

As expected this pillar is not where it was on my first visit 14 years ago. It is now in the hedge on the SE boundary of field. Apart from a few surface chips it has survived the move quite well. Spider has asphalt plug. FB faces 236, SW. Views include West Lomond and Craig Rossie. S6044 built at original site 29th April 1950. Tertiary station in Block NO02, Perth. Minor hedge pruning before photography. GPS reading at new site with 6m accuracy was NO_03334_25384. Photographed 1/10/2005, GRP.

Its in the hedge, standing on the foundations. Partially farmerised I suppose. Original home has some light grass on it. Intact save for some missing concrete lost in the move, I expect.

First visit, when it was still in its original position. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 29th April 1950 costing 10.12s.5d. In 1951 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO02/T32 in the Perth secondary block. Flush bracket S6044 was levelled for height in 1956. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in November 1986. This pillar was standing as expected, in the middle of an arable field when I visited 15/05/1991. It has since been deleted from the maps and was allegedly destroyed in 1997. But I have in on good authority that S6044 still exists, albeit at the side of the field, but which side??? No photos taken.
