Easy walk on forestry track to point near the trig. Then easy walk to trigpoint. Cuboid shape rather than the usual frustrum. Found a tupperware treasure trove with goodies for kiddies in. Walked back along the MTB trail.

Second visit. For photographs and GPS readings. HISTORY: Early records for these Lossiemouth Base Extension pillars are unclear but this pillar may have been built by 1912. In 1937 this marker was added to the OSGB36 primary network and was computed for triangulation as primary station PP347 in Figure 3 of the Retriangulation of Great Britain. The pillar top was levelled for height in 1957 but flush bracket 11091 wasn't added until 1963. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in May 1987. SITE VISIT: Approached from west. Parked in forest car park at NJ174634. Up via mapped track until aligned with pillar where a well worn path climbs to the top of Quarrelwood Hill. Lossiemouth style column. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces south, 174. Vented through north sight hole. View spans 112 from WNW to NE showing a profile of many Sutherland tops. Continued to pillar S1810. Don't forget to bag NPFB G1004 from the car park.
