Checked out on here beforehand as it is in a residential area. Parked in Third Avenue, a lot of cars already parked so a bit tricky. Walked to gate at end of The Avenue. Spotted pillar down the garden about thirty metres further on. Went down steps to house first to ask if would be ok to look at the pillar. Permission readily given, and a ‘mind how you go’. Back up steps and across a rhubarb patch. Limited views, but able to make out the sea to south. Chipped top and crack across the middle. Cap missing. Sheer drop to north.

Owner of The Hollow happy for me to walk along to the trig. Nice location on edge of a sheer drop down the rock face / quarry. Pillar has a horizontal fracture that looks as though it's been repaired, also some chipping to top edges and one top corner broken way. Original top cap has been lost, no plug; RHD side sight hole open.

Hi all. I am not a trig point hunter. I was asked to clear 'a bit of undergrowth' and a few trees! Anyone who has visited the Hollow and Daison rock trig point will understand the understatement. The owners have done a great job of clearing a disused quarry and it has been a joy to help. The view from on top of the trig point is fantastic, Torbay and Dartmoor. The trig point is now visible from the end of Main avenue, but is on private land. Mr & Mrs Peters are a lovely couple and if you ask they are usually happy for people to have access. The address is The Hollow. Main avenue. Torquay. TQ1 4JQ PLEASE be aware as you stand in Main Av' and look at the trig point, to the right hand side of the car park is a sheer quarry face With a 100 ft plus drop. So please take care.

After seeking permission from the owner of the Hollows, we set forth into the bushes armed with secateurs and loppers. Hacked our way in following a feint game trail and slithered under low branches and passed an abandoned vehicle trailer presumably from the original quarry. On arrivals, cleared the ivy and black thorne from the trig to find the cap missing and a chip from its top, together with a horizontal crack at half height. Views great. Then we hacked our way back out, rebuilding the collapsed fence to the quarry edge en route. If you want to visit this one, now might be the time given the pruning it got today!

We approached from the west via the carparking spot for The Hollow. The owner had just pulled up in his car and said that kids had made a path over the top of the rock and that we were welcome to look for the pillar. A very sheer drop to the north. I didn't notice the crack to the pillar because I was too interested trying to get in and out of the blackthorn without getting too many scratches (wearing shorts at the time). Plug missing.

This was a really satisfying one to find! It looks like there's no way up to Daison Rock cos of all the housing that surrounds it. However, with careful searching we found a public path that leads straight to the top. The actual trig is half-covered with ivy and immersed in what looks like a new plantation of prickly shrubs (possibly planted to deter faint-hearted triggers). Undetered we conquered it.

This is not in a private garden at all, but on public land at the edge of a sheer cliff. There is a path from a backstreet that leads to a short climb through some woods and a bit of a scramble through some nasty thorny bushes. The trig itself is almost completely submerged in undergrowth. Worth going up here for the view alone.

This pillar location is within a private garden in the middle of the backstreets of Torquay. The address is "The Hollow", Main Avenue, Torquay. Permission is going to be required for this one. Considering the location, I would hazard a guess that the pillar is still there, just not visible from the road.
