Parking at bend in Morestead Road to W of trig, then 400m across arable field (last year's stubble) - assuming red flags are not flying, which on Sunday's is rare. Trig located on the Morestead Down MoD firing range. Pillar in good condition; original cap in place, lightly indented lettering; rear sight hole only open. Extensive views, almost 360deg but for small restriction by wooded hill top.

On the first occasion I'd just visited the superb little Norman church of St Andrew, and walked through the churchyard and past the sentry box(!) but soon encountered red flags. Everything fine today with lovely views of Winchester.
