From Peel Fell via Mid Fell. Pillar is in a sorry state with severe damage to the top leaving the spider completely exposed. Sight holes now below ground level so not checked. Nice views though.

08/09/19 (Second visit) A great weather forecast convinced us that today was the day to revisit DWM, and bag Carlin Tooth into the bargain. Unlike first visit, as we approached Kielder along the Forest Drive the summit of DWM was the only place actually in cloud, however once we'd walked out of the trees and onto the moor the cloud had lifted / burned off and the fantastic views this hill has to offer were resplendent. If it wasn't for all the radar paraphernalia obstructing some of those views I'd have given this a 10/10. 08/11/17 (First Visit) Stunning morning setting off, from Kielder village the masts and golf ball were clearly seen...after emerging from the forest track onto the moorland section of the climb we walked into a bank of freezing fog wich refused to shift. By the time we got to the summit we could hardly see the golf ball from the TP...a significant disappointment!

Parked in the entrance to Lightpipe at Chubbies Knowe. Walked up forest tracks, cutting off a significant corner by taking the mtb red route. Extensive panorama from the summit. Sheltered from the icy wind in the unusual 'Specere' windshelter.

From the church at Ravenshill, good forestry tracks all of the way to the summit. Although mild and sunny strong winds meant that I had to use the wind shelter at the top. 2 hours up and down including a break at the top.

Left car on through road at Chubbies Knowe to the south, then walked up along the forest tracks. Met a few off-road cyclists, despite it being sub-zero with a couple of inches of snow cover. Good views from the top into Scotland, across the Kielder forests, and up to a snow-covered Cheviot.

Parked near Kittyhurst Cottage and walked to Rushy Knowe, Jenny Storie's Stone, Peel Fell, Mid Fell and on to the trig point near all the masts. The complete lack of views and poor visibility from start to finish made the accomplishment to reach this pillar that more satisfying. The surface top of the pillar is badly weathered, exposing all legs of the spider.
