Turned east off the B3224, missed the turning at fork in road, disturbed a hawk trying to lift its prey from the road. By the time I had turned around and gone back both were gone. Pulled over at a gateway on east side of lane to west of pillar, top of it just visible from the road. About seventy five metres into the grassy field on a plinth in a small fenced area. Spider and cap in place. Chipped top. Good all round views. Relatively low elevation between Quantocks to east and Brendon Hills to west.

Parked at field entrance NW of trig. Across arable field to pillar on overlarge plinth and fenced in, presumably to protect it, but perhaps that was after the substantial damage had been sustained. Top has been badly hit a few times by looks of things. One spider arm damaged and bent, and whole thing covered with thin coating of dried slurry - a sad looking pillar. It does retain it's metal cap though, with indented lettering; front sight hole ope, RHD side and rear plugs degrading. Panoramic views.
