It's a long way from the main road along North Drove road to this one, about 3 miles. The road is very broken up in places, not a road for a car with low profile tyres.

(1317) And saving the best until last. My final extant Lincolnshire pillar - the most southerly one in the county, and my very last Lincs trigpoint. Every location used by the OS in the county - from the Humber to the Wash - now visited and ticked off the list. From start to finish, it's taken 1 day short of 2 years. Tackled this one the same way Brisey did, as I'd had my fill of driving down dilapidated Fen roads these last few years! Permission to park up at the houses near Deeping Fen Farm was given, and from there it was a easy and enjoyable 20 minute walk to the pillar. All good, and happy to have completed my main goal. It's been a brilliant way to explore the nooks and crannies of England's 2nd largest county. Pillar history: Built on the 9th of December 1955, at a cost of £4 7s 2d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1979.

A wee roadside trig but a hell of a detour along these strange wee bumpy roads that are up high between fields. Cheaper than a roller coaster at Disney world. Last YOSM of the night. Cheers

A quick find following the long drove road along the top of the dyke. View is reasonable but unsurprisingly very flat and unlikely to fill you with excitement.

Most loggers drove here along the drove road it seems, but as I was approaching from the Baston end, I walked the 1.2 miles from Deeping Fen Farm. I passed two people doing some fine traditional hedge laying. Pillar very good condition, only the north-west sighting hole open.

Got stopped by car coming in opposite direction and asked who I was visiting, explained I was just visiting the trig. He then said it's on the RHS about 25 yards further on. Then he came back and asked about trigs.

A 5 mile blast down the empty cul-de-sac beside the North Drove Drain in the Lincolnshire Fens will take you ultimately to the Deeping Fen trig pillar. There was nothing here to disturb the sound of birds and insects… Very peaceful. The pillar is in good condition and has all it’s metalwork in place. Judging from the mess on the top, it’s obviously a favourite with the local birds… the feathered variety! The views are exactly what you would expect being in the middle of some of the lowest, flattest country in Britain. Despite its indicated elevation of zero feet above sea level, you can actually see for miles in all directions.
