Nothing really to add other than to confirm that it is still there and remains in good condition. [My map pre-dates the arrival of the wind turbines which have re-aligned the footpaths. Still reachable by using the diverted paths though.]

The pillar stands in a large field grazed by sheep on a hill to the south of Padstow. Its base is exposed by about eight inches. The trig has a metal cap with deep lettering and FB S7757. The pillar was reached by footpaths from the B3274 to the east. A severe haze restricted the view from the trig. The glint of the ocean could be seen in the distance to the north and west. Padstow and the Camel Estuary could be seen to the north. The faint outline of more distant hills were in the east and north east. Newquay Airport could be seen to the south west and caravan sites in the valley to the east of Newquay to the south. The outline of some of the Cornish Alps could just be seen through the hazy mist to the south. The field boundary to the north gave a better view to the coastal headlands and offshore islets of Trevose and Pentire Point. The adjacent field contains a number of large wind turbines.

We took the footpath from Higher Denzell Farm through fields inhabited by frisky large bullocks. Good view of the windmills on Bears Down once you get to the trig. S7761 is the FB no for Belowdah Beacon, which we visited in April 2000 and Slapster visited 50 minutes before Denzell Downs. Plug with heavily indented lettering.

There is a footpath that runs next to this pillar. However it hasnt stopped the Farmer from sowing the entire field with crops, making access somewhat more difficult!! Once there, though it is worth the visit as the all-round views are stunning.
