Nervous about the police patrolling the area (see previous logs), so got my wife to sit in the driver's seat with the engine running while I legged it across the field. Not quite a bank heist .Instead I was rewarded with a wonderfully lit view of an inky blue sea, white foam of a heavy swell and yellow straw stacks against a stormy sky one way and a conglomerate of gas pipes the other .way

Dimlington trig point to the north of the gas terminal. I parked my car then less then 10 minutes to bag trig and be back in the car before the police arrived. I was logging the trig so just stated that I stopped to answer my phone. Luckily I wasn't asked to get out the car cause my blue Ronhills were covered in rape flower.

Spotted this one on the map as we were passing in the dark, could easily see it with the bright lights from the gas terminal, parked up on the side of the road for the short walk to the pillar.

D1-2 Easy to see from the road, view E of the North Sea, S is the high tec, high security gas terminal. Never seen so much barbed wire, and on double fencing. No police around, but hey, I might have starred in their CCTV.

I'm going to log this as a drive by. Was not planning to visit but saw the pillar on my way to Spurn Head - didn't stop as I'd just past the cop car and a farmer was ploughing the field.

Parked at the entrance to the bridle way and walked up the hedge line then nipped over the last few yards. Walking back to the car could see the police had stopped and were checking it over. Got back to find 2 armed police units waiting. Explained what we were doing and they were ok.

Pillar stands a few yards off the lane which winds around the gas terminal in a field of winter grain. East access off the road. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. No paint. Concrete base exposed about 2" all round. S sight hole open, others closed. Excellent north views along the Holderness coast, S to gas terminal and NW over Holderness.

The trig is about 50yards into a field level with a speed limit sign on the road. This was the last of six trigs that we bagged today while visiting Spurn Point. Could not take a photo at the trigpoint as my camera battery went flat.

Easy access because the ditches shown on the map are very shallow. It appears the land now belongs to BP so let's hope they don't build another terminal where the trig is! Nice view of the wind turbines. Plug with indented lettering.

I actually find this quite interesting - the wind farm in any other place would be an eyesore, but here, with the gas terminal in close proximity and on a frankly boring stretch of clastline, I found it quite interesting.
