Instead spent an hour and a half in a futile, frustrating search for Skateraw SB. Bugger!

Easily accessible from the Scottish Heritage Doon Hill car park. There's excessive barbed wire but there's a gap between the fields lined with short wind-battered trees and you can just duck under the wire at the end. Fantastic view over Dunbar and the river. Field ploughed right up to the pillar but pillar in pretty good order.

Commanding great views includes the Bass Rock. Spent time on return to explore the Anglo Saxon Site now shown by cement lines. You need to spend time exploring this location as it is not visible from the interpretation board. Info provided is brilliant.

You can drive almost all the way to the top of Doon Hill. The road is clearly signposted from the A1. Drove up to the NTS carpark. At the top, the 'road' is just a farm track, but it's OK for a normal 2WD car. Had to squeeze through a fence to get into the field with the trig in it. If you follow the fence along until you are in line with the trig there is a short section with no barbed wire.
