Pulled over on west side of road by entrance to stables. From there about twenty metres south and pillar on plinth in hedge on east side of lane. Bit of a scramble up. A bit of tidying up to remove ivy. Chipped top, probably hedge cutting machinery. Cap missing. Raining at the time. Some views to south and west.

Walk SE along narrow lane from handy parking spot where there are three gated accesses for 30m and pillar is above the lane in the hedge on the Left. Damaged top, FB facing the lane.

Set in a holly and ivy hedge on a singe-track lane and overgrown. Tidied up a bit. An interesting pillar on the other side of the lane. No idea of its age or purpose. Was it a navigational aid?

Still nicely clear of vegetation after the tlc it received last year. Not too much traffic around today and a nice convenient pull-in almost opposite.

What a busy little road, and being a typical Devonshire country lane, is not wide enough for 2 cars! The pillar sits high up on a roadside field boundary embankment. Easy enough to hop up there, where I spent 20 mins or so sawing and pruning the vegetation whilst copious amounts of traffic passed below me with the occasional wagon where the driver could turn sideways and look me in the eye from 3 feet away! The top has suffered some damage from the hedge flailer with one corner extensively smashed away. No centre cap or plug; sight holes not checked.

Managed to climb up the back of the hedge and made good friends with an evil spikey holly bush to fly on top of this one. Quite damaged on one corner which is a shame.

Made the small detour necessary to visit this trig point which commands excellent views from the top of the bank, especially on a day such as today with sunshine! Very conveniently the flush bracket faced the lane. although this made taking a photograph without showing it a little more difficult! Looked in good condition although I didn't climb up the bank to assess the top.

Visible from the road but I parked in nearest gateway and went through the gate into the field to see the other side. Views unspectacular but I imagine they're a lot better from trigtop height!

Now easy to find as it stands proud of adjacent hedge by about one foot due to recent visit by hedge trimmer. Unfortunately, the driver of said hedge trimmer was unaware of the trig points' existence, and has removed a large chunk from the west corner. Two large pieces found in undergrowth placed back in position

An easy roadside trig to bag but involves miles of single file country lane driving on either side. Got following a visit to Castle Drogo. The farmer spotted me taking photos and was intrigued. He wanted to know how high his farm stood! Said somebody had written to him asking to adopt the trig!

DOH! Walked past this twice before I remembered to look for the holly bush. Fortunate (?) that the FB faces the road or this would be a bugger to complete properly. Couldnt climb to check the plug - no purchase in the wall - and farmer was watching me from where I parked in his gate a few yards away. He must be used to it by now though 'cos he said nothing to me.

This pillar just sits on a hedge, by the side of the road. It looked a little worn, but nothing serious. No particually interesting views, but it's near Spinsters Rock, which is worth a look.
