A very breezy day and a rough crossing of the Sound of Iona. Squally showers being blown in but passing through quickly so I nipped up the signed well trodden route from the road in a dry spell. Good views with the cairn nearby looking higher than the trig. Can the trig be renamed to Dun I (dun ee) the "I" being the local name for Iona and not standing for island?

The rest of the island was crowded similar to Princes Street on a Saturday afternoon, so ferry back to the peace and tranquillity of Mull ASAP. Hill access is open and signposted from the unclassified road. Vanessa in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces NNE, ~35. Vented through SE and SW sight hole, pillar bolt viewable. Full 360 panoramic view.

I was staying the night in the hostel at Lagandorain and had gone out for a peaceful walk once all the tourists had left on the last ferry back to Mull. I decided to climb up to the top of Dun I on the spur of the moment and even though it was misty out to sea I was still content with what little view there was. Back then I wasn't too concerned about studying a trig pillar in close detail, but I do recall standing next to it, scanning around the island and thinking about what a truly unforgettable place it was.
