Lost to flood defences? Adjacent to a very nice park with sailing, windsurfing and a variety of other water sports including pedallos. A very nice spotty dog was exiting his car on our arrival who we would bump into again at Sandal Magna.

Are you sure this was a trig? Made a day out of it with ma girls went up the castle then made us all touch the red gate saying private at Pugneys and play in the science park. Did they know they had been to 2 trigs today? No.

According to Memory Map the trig location is not in Pugney's Country Park but in the field directly to the north (marked private). See the screen dump that details the exact location, I've marked it with a flag. It's still missing mind. The field has an embankment but I doubt the trig stood on it, it somehow looks too recent to me & there's no evidence to show it was anywhere there. I reckon it was somewhere near where the small pond is now - not shown on the map. You can walk the embankment to reach the river Calder. Pic's to follow.

Definitely missing! Coordinates put it just inside Pugneys Country Park just off the A636 outside Wakefield but according to a bloke who works there and is very intimate with the park there never has been a trig point in the park. This area was extensivley redeveloped 15-20 years ago from old open cast mining operations and the trig is not shown on current OS maps. However an old OS map from 1854 shows the trig at SE 32021 17579 about 1/2km to the SW of current quoted location and to the left of the A636 but this area is now been covered by houses and if it's there it's in someones garden!
