KF Followed the hill top tracks along South Downs Way from Beachy Head to reach trig accompanied by a concrete lined dew pond with 3 benches that looked very confrontational across the gloopy water. Through steady rain descended the golf club ridge back into Eastbourne.

As per previous poster, used the roadside car park and took a short, leisurely walk across to the circular pond behind the wood, where I could enjoy superb views of Eastbourne and the sea. (And a trig on a hump.)

Near to car park on left of road between A259 and Beachy Head. Short walk following footpath. Great views towards sea, Eastbourne and Beachy Head. Had to wait quarter of an hour for sufficient daylight to be able to read flush plate. Revisit, 11 February 2024, cycling from Beachy Head towards Eastbourne, the sun was shining on a brilliant spot on the skyline. Only as I was at about the road junction to turn east downhill towards Eastbourne I realised it was the pillar after all having had a fresh coat of whitewash since my last visit. Made the slight detour to revisit. Bit muddy along the track from the road after recent heavy rain. Looking very good although there were a few muddy marks on it.

First trig of a walk on the South Downs way. I had intended doing the full 100 miles but cut it to 50, and in the end stormy weather dropped it to 40. No problems, it was enjoyable and bagged some trigs. Trig easy to find, with haze over the Channel.

Walked up from Eastbourne Pier, along the promenade, then up Carlisle Road to join the South Downs Way (took about 40 minutes) and reached this pillar which retains its cap with shallow lettering and one sight-hole open. Refreshing lemonade at the welcoming Buccaneer on the way back down.

Number 4 of 5 today. Parked in near by car park, short walk across fields and up the hill, (mind the dog mess). As previous logs, this trig sits on a small mound, in good condition, plenty of people around to take pictures. Great views over the south coast.

Parked at Exceat, walked through Friston Forest up to Willingdon Hill trig, along to East Dean Hill and Beachy Head trig, back over the Seven Sisters to Exceat, 15.5 miles and 3 trigs.

Located on the South Downs about 2 miles north of Beachy Head. Great views along the coast from Hastings to Seaford. The pillar is actually located on top of a round tumulus, and there is a downland dewpond alongside.

Just finished college and was soon to go away to University in Portsmouth, as I was moving away from Eastbourne, I went for a nice stroll with friend Louise, had a chat and a photo at this Trig on East Dean Hill.
