(546) Couldn't locate the grounds man, but permission was given to visit the pillar at the club house. Not too many golfers about today, so no problems there. All in good condition. Pillar history: Built on the 24th of September 1946, at a cost of 4 7s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in November of 1987.

Altitude 12m I asked a grounds man where to get permission to visit the trig pillar and he readily gave it saying that I didn't need to ask. I did get the impression that he was pleased I had asked though. He pointed out that the direction corssed the 18th hole so to watch out for players coming through but there were none when I passed. Nice little pillar.

On Sutton Park golf course, asked permission, readily given. Under trees, OS cap in place, with shallow indented letters. Higher than average mark because at 11m it's the lowest trig I've yet been to! So the large pond at the bottom of the nearby fairway must be at or below sea level...

East Mount Golfers on fairway, trig in trees at top. If trig is at 11m is that pond below sea level?!

I have tried and failed twice before for this 1,both times from the houses on western Gailes way but without success. As it is the joint u/a county top of Hull I thought I would have another go( not before preparing for failure by bagging the other at Bransholme just in case the wife gets suspicious as to why I spend so much time in Hull) anyway asked at the golf club and given permission to walk up,easy really if you bother to read previous logs before you go.

The entrance to the course didn't seem inviting so tried the route in from Western Gailes Way. Located path into wood just W of No.96 but the gate in the steel pallisade fencing was locked. Next considered the SW bank of Holderness Drain but it was steep and overgrown. The track shown on older maps has gone. Then a circuit of the golf course perimeter via North's bridge, a housing estate and back to the main road - secure fencing 8-( Finally, asked for permission at the office next to entrance. No problem - should have tried this first. Golfers ignored me and I them. Trig in a damp patch under trees, plug intact, could do with repainting.

I was thwarted by a new fence with a locked gate on the path into the trees from Western Gailes Way. The path looks well used so maybe residents have a key. I'll have to try one of the longer ways round next time.

I made a proper mess of this one. I parked on a new housing estate The Fairways I think it was called, but failed to find a way into the gold course. I tracked westwards and then north and eventually got onto the course near the driving range. Then I walked around the edge of the course and eventually found the trig. I then realised that it was only a short walk out of the woods and onto Western Gailes Way. The entrance of the path into the woods on Western Gailes Way is at TA 13406 32686.

Take footpath across golf course to Drain , turn right down side of fairway, circle around behind green and trig is in trees at obvious 'summit'. For all you anoraks out there this is also the county top for the Kingston upon Hull county (unitary authority), it shares this honour of being 11m above sea level with the Wawne Road out of Bransholme (eg roundabout at TA 09579 36174 and spot height earlier on road). Otherwise quite undistinguished. Hull of course always was a county in it's own right through the centuries but has been played with rather a lot by the politicians over recent decades.
