The trench around the base remains but damage seems consistent with previous pictures. Excellent views from here especially to the Campsies and Ochils. Easy plod up the hill from the road.

Lovely, desolate spot although not always so. Judging from a solitary can of T (sadly empty!) that was sitting there, I imagine this site is frequented by those who may have damaged the pillar. Shame that it has deteriorated from a decent condition as noted in previous photos. Look at the spider in picture with the Harris Hawk and look at it now! I had a look in pile of debris but couldn't find the spider.

Not looking too clever already is it?
Pity about the condition of the trig but it's a lovely wee outcrop!

Driving past this familiar landmark this afternoon I noticed its odd sillouette. Wondering if perhaps it had been zapped by the weeklend's lightning, I went the short way up the hill for a donder. It's certainly been the victim of a concerted vandal/demolition attack. They've even removed most of the debris from the vicinity of the pillar. It's very strange, clearly a multiple visit attack and clearly intended to demolish the pillar, but why? There is zero chance of anyone obtaining planning permission for housing on that hilltop and the tig is not doing anyone any harm, so why has somone spent at least a couple of hours trying to remove it? The farmer is a friend of a friend of a friend, so I'll put out a query to find out if anyone knows the story of the attack(s).
