Fabulous autumn weather, trees in all their autumnal glory, bracken turning golden brown, bright and sunny and fantastic visibility in all directions. Is this or Dirrington Great Law the best view point between the Border and the Forth? Can't decide...

Climbed up to the summit of Mid Hill whilst on a walk between Melrose & St Boswells on part of the St. Cuthbert's Way. A great viewpoint to get a more detailed look at the surrounding area.

Great views from the top on a clear day. Bagged the pillar on my way to the nearby cache. Forgot to take camera with though - doh! Missed a chance for some great photos.

The Eildon Hills dominate the Central Borders. Topograph next to trig pillar. Land used for grazing. Trig pillar in good order, but the spider is missing its cap and the centre hole is being filled with debris. All four sighting holes open, also filled with debris. Flush bracket faces ENE. Views to almost everywhere in the Borders and beyond. Nearby notables include: Black Hill NT72, Rubers Law, Minto Hill, and Meigle Hill. Visited and photographed 7/08/2004, GRP.

The views from this pillar are fantastic in virtually every direction. One of three hills, all three summits are worth visiting, as is Melrose in the valley below.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 7th June 1953 costing £31.8s.0d. In 1957 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT72/9 in the Jedburgh block. Flush bracket S7474 was levelled for height in 1958. This station was last maintained by the OS September 1986. Long views in all directions. This top is easily identified from afar too.
