Parked on Stocks Lane. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there. At around SJ 42653 35418, the discernible track which I took heads in a more southerly direction than the PRoW. The trig field is ungated and can be accessed at SJ 42272 35279. Fantastic views all round from the pillar

Real easy bag off the Pub FP from Lea Wood. Trig has had a few chunks knocked out of it, but they have been filled and repaired. Missing and filled plug.

Great walk out round the mere to the north on good tracks and paths, trig in vgc tarmac plug great views last of a short day dodging the rain with a late start.

Parked in Welshampton at start of 12 mile circular walk taking in The Mere, Ellesmere, Shropshire Union Canal, Blake Mere, Cole Mere and returning on field paths via Balmer Heath. There is a good well signed part track/path all the way between Welshampton and The Mere. Trig point lies just off this path with easy access. Cattle may be grazing in some fields.

Great group to share those few hours with and a very enjoyable walk up from The Mere. Definitely as memorable an experience one could hope for to make their 1000th very much extra special.

a very decent view on a good day i bet. down farm lane then across the no footpath section to trig.. bit muddy. trig in pretty good nick. benchmark on gatepost halfway there...

At last got to scratch the itch, as one of the last to visit in N Shropshire/Cheshire area this has been annoying me for some time, but too far to ride from home and back in a day. Stayed last night at Coalport YHA, and out via Shawbury and Wem, then on to Prees Heath for a cafe lunch before heading home. An early frost, but now the temperature has risen enough to allow removal of a couple of layers and track bottoms! The footpath is unmarked from road through former farm yard, but then well signed and provided with foot gates. Rolling hillocks covered in lush grass (what drought?). At last a lovely clear day and views out to hills in all directions.

Did a couple of the Mere caches at Ellesmere, then had a walk to the pillar, a surprisingly isolated spot with lovely views to the Welsh Hills on this beautiful evening. Easy access, just off path. Traces of white paint and quite white at the top [recent repaint?]. Resin plug and concrete base exposed about 8" all round. E sighthole open. Lovely spot!

Lovely walk to this one in glacial deposit country. smooth hills with marshy depressions full of wildfowl. Path to trig guarded by friendly heifers that greeted me at the stile and followed me around. They are fresh out for the spring and ultra curious. Good views. Concrete plug replacement.
