OS records the pillar destroyed May 1972, probably when the area was redeveloped. The site is now occupied by the South Bristol Cemetery and Crematorium. The crematorium building stands where the pillar was located.

It is a crematorium know. It would have been a fine position with views over Bristol and Long Ashton. In years gone by a great place to watch the balloons from the fiesta. RIP.

GPS indicated location within building. Had a very quick look through an open gate into a yard, but could see nothing

The former site of the pillar is now occupied by South Bristol Crematorium. The site looks out to the north toward the ridge of Ashton Court Estate and down the Avon Gorge to Clifton and its suspension bridge.

RIP Walked around the perimeter of the crematorium, closest GPS reading I could get was 30ft, therefore the location is certainly in the centre of the building.

This would have been the view. Nice place to rest

plotting location onto 1:1250 map suggests it isn't under a building but ther is now sign on map or ground of the trig
