Left my car at The Sands car park / recycling point in Lower Bradfield then followed Fair House Lane and Windy Bank round to Mortimer Road. Immediately after passing the northern edge of the woodland I then headed straight across the heather on a bearing of 320. Heather was thigh deep in places which made for quite a slog. Pillar, which still has its original metal cap with indented lettering only comes into view when about 200-300m away. North and East sightholes open. Noticeable crack to the south-western corner, extending from the base to almost half way up. Best views to the SE along Agden and Damflask reservoirs otherwise typical moorland scenery.

The last of three trigpoints on a route taken from “Peak District Trigpointing Walks” Walked up from a point directly to the east of the trigpoint – this is not to be recommended – tall wet heather made this a very strenuous route. Returned by the grouse butts route – this would have made a much easier accent. Great views from up here – well there would have been if it hadn’t been raining with low cloud. The sun came out long enough to produce a rainbow – just about visible on my photo.
