Bagged this one after the Skirrid as it appeared relatively quick and easy. As others, parked by the grit bin and walked up the field which was all very straightforward with no issues encountered. Could see the Skirrid from the trig but that's as far as the Fair View goes from this one lol.

The Abergavenny 3 peaks trial is always held around the week after the spring equinox but this year, because of covid its been delayed to june. The route is beautiful and the weather is almost always excellent and so it was today as I set off from Byefield CP in Abergavenny (8.00) anticlockwise, climbing Blorenge (9.10), Sugar Loaf (11.56) and Skirrid (13.49) then, after descent off Skirrid diverted on FP's through well ordered farmland and minor roads to visit pillar, slight tilt, original cap. Small fry compared with its prominent neighbours earlier in day but well worth a visit and not a cloud in the sky all day but very strong E wind. By Abergavenny (16.30) I was well stuffed.

Cycled out to White Castle and thought I would bag a few trig points on the way. Easy to find and fair views today. It looks like the hedge has been moved since some of the earlier photos. Should have brought the mountain bike though.

Parked at field entrance at 90deg bend in minor road, followed field boundary to pillar on SW side hedgerow. Becoming a bit overgrown, cut back some thorn and bramble. Top has damage to one corner otherwise it's fine. Original cap has been retained, deeply indented lettering; rear sight hole open. Extensive views S and W.

Boo hiss. lost maroon walking pole with a cork walking stick handle. Called back again four hours later but no sign of it so either I left it somewhere else or maybe someone found it. If anyone on here found it my number is 07988 741804 Yes it's a fair view indeed. In fact that may be understatement. It's a splendid view across to Sugar Loaf.

Original plan today was to head up Sugar Loaf. Cloud was down to 200m when I got off the train so I decided on a circular walk over this way. Good idea because it was snowing by the time I got here. Not quite the manner how I thought I’d end up bagging my 500th T:UK pillar. Some damage to a top corner means I mark this one down as slightly damaged.

The pillar is highly visible but needs a bit of 'creativity' to reach it. I parked in the gateway on the road bend to the south-east to access the field. Soon came across the farmer doing some fence work but he readily gave me permission to continue on to the trig. Everything in good condition and still has an original plug. Nice view point.
