Parked in the small car park at Forest Lodge. Had planned to do a circular walk however thunderstorms were forecast and there were lots of ominous clouds around so we about turned after bagging the trig. Although it wasn't the clearest of days the views were still pretty impressive. Another dragon trig in the bag! :-)

Completed this on a circular walk of Fan Frynych visiting all the Cairns enroute, fantastic weather today and the views were spectacular and far less crowded than Pen y Fan in the distance. FB and spider all intact but centre plug is missing.

Undertaken on the hottest day of the year to date. Walk from Storey Arms, down Taff Trail and then ascent via Graig Cerrig-gleisaid to Fan Frynych TP. Then across moorland, fortunately bone dry, and up steep northern slope to Fan Fawr summit cairn. A good ten minute break here before we dragged our weary bodies the half mile across the plateau to the TP.

Parking in the layby to the E, then up to the ridge over Crag Cerrig-Gleisiad, the back in a loop via the pillar, good condition, amazing views to the top of Brecon Beacons, much quieter than Pen-Y-Fan :)

Lovely walk up though the Craig Cerrig Gleisiad nature reserve. Parked in lay-by on A470. Lots of wild horses around the trig point. Wonderful views. Will definitely visit this one again. Walked along the ridge after and onwards to Fan Fawr.

Great walk over from Fan Fawr and trig there to this one at Fan Frynych. Recently painted white so glowed in the sunshine from there too! Newly painted red dragon and white wash, plug missing. Standing solid on a big plinth, big enough for us to sit on and taka a snack and drink before heading back to Storey Arms. Even had a little flurry of snow for a couple of minutes! Fab views of PYF and wonderfully quiet too. Stopped to take in the sun and views on the way back, lovely when out of the cold breezes. Great loop for anyone getting away from the crowding at PYF and no ques at the top either!

Parked in the lay-by off the A470, further down from the youth hostel coming from brecon .. followed a steep stoney path - Craig cerrig-gleisiad . Weather was great to begin with before the fog & ice rain came , I would imagine on a bright day the views would be beautiful.

Left car at Sarn Helen/road junction (SN924184). E up Fan Llia, around N end of Ystradfellte Reservoir, up Brest y Fan to TP at Fan Fawr. Off Fan Fawr via v steep path dropping towards Storey Arms, then NE along Beacons Way to this TP. Eroded ground allows concrete base to form a seat. Lunch stop with superb views all around. Path SW to join Sarn Helen and back to car. Great day's walking and views.

Beautiful walk on a glorious summer evening. The Trig is in good condition with awesome views all around, and unlike Pen y Fan, not a sole to be seen. Definitely worth a look.

Did a nice little circular walk from the layby on the A470 to the SW. Excellent views of the western brecons, Pen y Fan and Powys to the north. Lovely warm spring sunshine until the inevitable cloud cover rolled in from the south.

First of three trigs while walking around Ystradfellte Reservoir. Sheep were standing on the base seeking shelter, though it wasn't that cold today. The plate above the flush bracket has been prized off. Better views from nearby, though not a good day for views.

Standing as I did like a lost soul on heaven's eternal path, the Fan Frynych pillar, which incidentally the spelling of which I had to check 5 times through consultation of my Egyptian hieroglyphs book remains isolated but a suitable piece of foreground action for some decent shots of Corn Ddu and Pen Y Fan. Considering the notorious extreme weather in the area the pillar remains sure and steadfast against the forces of nature as a proud monument to those who reach the point.

Moved the car down the A470 for the send walk of the day, this and its partner in about an hour and a quarter. Up the cliff edge then down via the cwm far better than the long route on the footpath

One of my favourites in the Beacons ,lovely views of the main peaks without the crowds {sometimes!}Lovely frosty circular walk,W then N around Craig Cerrig Gleisaid .Pillar in good shape with optons to link across to Fan Fawr if you have the time .

High cloud and sunny intervals the mountain weather forecast promised. Lucky I bought all my gear then as it started to rain and the temperatures dropped. Both the plaque and plug are now missing. A nice climb up from the A470 nevertheless with cliffs on your left.
