Route as Jonglew. Kept out of the gales for most of the route, apart from the last 200m over the wet moss and ankle breakers. Not to many landscape pictures today!

Parked at start of logging road (NT 5879 0279). Follwed it up to NT 5733 0299, whence easily up through conifers; last 200m rough tussocky ground. Pillar has some small damage to top screed exposing one spider arm end otherwise good. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; RHS sight hole open. Extensive views.

Used what was left of the short day after the trek to Carlin Tooth to visit this trig. Parked by road and used same route as others. Left track and launched into plantation at right-hand edge of a small gravel quarry: there were a few windfalls to get round, but nothing difficult. The last few hundred metres across moorland to the trig are horrible: large soft wet mossy tussocks; like walking across a pile of huge wet sponges. The other end of the track, where it rejoins the road, was blocked by logging operations with a lot of forestry workers in action: not what you expect to see on New Years Day in Scotland!

Followed the usual route up. I would only add that there are couple of large drainage ditches to cross when ascending the slope in the forest. Limited view due to mist.

Route as previous visitors. Clearance to the south east of the forestry track has led to lots of wind-fall between the track and the pillar so needed to keep changing between rows. Decent weather and great views N-E-S.

Parked at NT587027 and followed forestry road to highest point then hit the trees. There's about 250m of ascent stright up through the trees, but they're not too dense so no problem really. As Bernie Hughes a surprisingly easy 1 hr 20 minute walk cheers agentmancuso.

First visit. To record FB number. HISTORY: Pillar completed 16th December 1953 costing 54.11s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NT72/11 within the Jedburgh block during 1957. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in June 1973. SITE VISIT: Trig pillar in good condition. Spider retained OS centre cap with raised lettering. Flush bracket on northeast face of pillar. There was an eclipse on this day, I had my cardboard and pinholes to study while I walked. Walked from and back to Hawick to bag this one.
