Trig by old gateway at wall junction bordering a very squelchy forestry track. Approached from the south up a good path from the edge of Matlock which follows the line of trees up from playing fields to Hurkers Wood. Surprised the path isn't marked on maps as it is well used and clearly has been for some time, even if not a dedicated right of way

8/8. Parked just North of the entrance to Tax Farm and found a path leading into the forest block. followed the path in SE direction and picked up the forest road. Leisurely walk down the forest tracks to the area of the TP. Spent a good 5 minutes looking for the pillar - good job it still retains some white paint. I imagine back in the day there were good views to the South and West. Plug removed and replaced with plastic cap.

Second of two trigs. Took footpath S from Rushley Lodge then veered W to access E side of Farley forestry access woodland, then took muddy wandering path S to find trig by the track, probably easier to find at this time of year. It's in good condition, painted white with what looks like a faded black and white flags on each face. Can't imagine the views pre-woodland. On to Oker Hill above Darley Bridge.

As expected, not an easy find owing to its location in the middle of a plantation. Parked NW of The Laburnum pub on the Hackney Road - nice views across Darley Dale to Will Shores Tree and Oaker Hill. Walked up Farley Hill and entered plantation at SK295629 (just after the entrance to Tax Farm) then wandered through the trees until I found the main NE-SW track. Followed the track round to the trig past some logging operations which filled the air with the scent of pine. Eventually found the trig by paying very close attention to map details. There is a double bend (left then right) in the main track. At the first bend look for a small track into the trees on your right. Take this but then immediately turn left on heading of 128 along a slight gulley, keeping the wall on your right. Follow this line through the trees for approx 50m and another wall soon appears on your left with the trig located in a gap to this wall. Trig itself is in good condition apart from a plastic cap in place of orginal metalwork and some moss. Views limited due to trees - have awarded a 4/10 simply because I'm chuffed at finding it without GPS !!
