Today the weather conditions were appalling - gale force winds and horizontal rain so only a dedicated bagger would have detoured; the nearby cache might have been the deciding factor. A walk in the mist up from Buckden - not a sole around today. Poor visability on the top.

Found this one while doing a very nearby geocache! A real tough pull up from Buckden in the valley, but the walk along the ridge from the footpath to the trig was easy. Concrete is starting to crack a bit and the plug is missing, but the views from here make up for any deficiencies in the trig point. Definitely one worth doing.

On the older OS maps, the highest point of the ridge between Wharfedale and Littondale (Birks Fell - not the trig) was marked as over 2000'; on the current maps it has lost that distinction. Plug filled with tarmac; four sighting holes open (see photo). Good views, especially towards Buckden Pike and Great Whernside. Overheating on the steep path up from Litton.

Very hazy the day me and Sue (my wife) went up. Good walk from Kettlewell to Buckden via Arncliffe, Litton and this trig. Revisited Sept 2006 in much the same weather conditions, some of the sections of the bridleway on the summit & the descent into Buckden have now been flagged/paved. No cars, on foot.
