Parked at Cowleaze Wood for a day of walking the nearby Ridgeway with several diversions for trigpointing purposes, so this first pillar was a nice easy start just off the footpath on Shirburn Hill. An asphalt-filled cap, and one sight-hole open. Lovely walk down the slopes of Shirburn Hill to the Ridgeway; although the temperature was only just above freezing, there was a spring-like feel to the day.

Easy peasy this one. Parked in Cowlease CP, walked to public footpath and climbed stile into field. Occupied by cows who clearly have loose bowels, but the Pillar is obvious about 100m away 20m from the south field hedge. Cows must rub themselves against the pillar as it is very clean. The Oxfordshire County top is close by - Bald Hill. Two in one here! Lovely walk to be had around the Aston Rownant National Nature Reserve (Red Kites, Buzzards and Kestrels). Superb views north eventually but not from the pillar.
