Revisit en route to Wooler triggers meet. The pillar was laid on its side outside the wood when I last visited. Good to see it upright again. Next off to bag Housedon Hill (unfortunately not a trig but a Marilyn).

Included Trig in a Circular walk around Hallington. Approached Trig via a gate into a field next to the Caravan Club site. Walked around edge of field until could gain access to wood, then followed wood around to the left and located trig. Looks to be OK condition despite being relocated into the wood

Moved from original location into woodland (installed GR was NY 95793 74262). Parked field entrance and down W side plantation for the orignal location, then into woodland to for where this pillar has been dumped. It's upright on its foundations, but leaning a little. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; rear sight hole open, front plug degrading. No views.

My third visit. All the weird wood & wire constructions at the bottom of the plantation have been bulldozed away into a huge heap of rubbish. Was concerned that the TP might have been considered rubbish to be bulldozed away too, but it's still where it was. Phew!

Second Visit: Went to see it in its new home. Unlike previous visit it is now accessible from the eastern side of the plantation (which has a much easier to open gate) and a broad field edge down to a tank that says 'SHOOT' on it, and through the trees, or down to the bottom of the plantation where the 'Heath Robinson' wooden contraption stands and then back up a clearing to where the TP is now proudly displayed, hopefully safe for many years to come. ~~ 23/05/2017 First Visit: It's still there recumbent, route as per everyone else, parking without blocking the gate or the gate opposite requires some consideration. Very good views for 180 degrees away from the wood.

Having not read the earlier logs prior to my visit, I was unaware the trig had been found at the field edge. I visited the original location, and strangely in a perfect field, there is a large block about 8m from the proper spot. Maybe the farmer is using it as a marker so the Trig can be re-planted ?

Pillar located lying on its side outside SE edge of woods at GPSr NY_95793_74262, or 182m ESE from its original site. Asides being moved and recumbent, the pillar is in good condition. Spider has replacement OS centre cap with raised small letters. Flush bracket now faces 225° SW, apparently the FB faced northwards at the original site. Vented through NE sight hole. Pillar completed 3rd October 1951 costing £20.11s.6d. In 1953 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NY86/T26 in the Hexham block. The trig point is recorded as last maintained by the OS in September 1966 even though the flush bracket was not levelled for height until 1968. Apparently moved some time between 19/08/1993 and 18/11/1999; see earlier logs. Photographed 26/07/2008, GRP.
