Very proud of self for bagging this one! I don't have technology to locate pillars - only to photograph them. So with only my handwritten directions to go on, and the previous logger's pile of stones long gone, the fact I found it within three minutes of leaving the path pleased me greatly! Golden rule as always is keep going up. Anyway... pillar in good condition, if a bit mossy round the FB. No views unless you like trees, which are densely packed all around the trig, and there are no paths leading through them.

Walked from Fittleworth through Little Bognor, very pretty, and woodland footpath to eastern side of Flexham Park to join the Serpent Trail. Head north west into park climbing uphill. Turned left into overgrown copse and tried to guess where the highest point is. Took a while to locate the pillar as there was no obvious track which had been used by others. Eventually found it after losing height a couple of times and heading back into to undergrowth. A GPS device might help but wouldn’t be as much fun. Good find, so extra point for that. No views whatsoever. A short distance from here is the abandoned school at Bedham sitting in the woods. By the way, this was logged after the next visitor, but visited before they did.

After a bit of a struggle through the undergrowth My navigation was bang on! Not wishing to brag, but this one is VERY concealed.

Given the dense vegetation it took some time to find the pillar. Recommend that future visits are made in the winter when it should be easier to get through to the pillar.

Drove along Riverhill Lane, past signs for little Bognor, at the end of Riverhill do immediate right onto dirt track and public bridleway, there is a small car park next to a locked gate. Follow the long path on foot as it goes up hill, as the path flattens out you need to go into the forest on your left, before the path starts to go down hill again. About 30 meters into dense woodland, keep em peeled, it's in there somewhere! The trig is in good condition with plug still in tact, moss grows on the outer, and it looks as if it might have been painted white at some point. Hard to believe that this trig was visible from another trig at some point, given the woodland that surrounds it, although this trig was placed between 1950-1952, so 60 years growth.
