Amazing pillar with fantastic views - we approached via the horse ranch - advised the folks i was going to visit the pillar with my dog - they were quite rude - so i just ignored them and went on my merry way. Absolutely fabulous views if the coastline and surrounding countryside - the approach roads not the easiest to navigate but all in all definitely worth the visit.

From Mains of Foveran to north - access track has unexpected drainage channel which felt like a massive speed bump (soon after leaving the road). Owner lives in wood cabin NJ 9934 2367

Parked at Mains of Foveran farm and asked at stables for permission, lassie said yes but it wasn’t her stables. Horses everywhere here, very friendly.

slightly convoluted ant clockwise circuit along field edges from half way down track to East Pitscaff and eventually through field with electric fence and very frisky horse that made me a bit nervous. Eventually north out through Mains of Foveran farm, which is by far the best approach to make to this pillar.

Walked from Mill of Menie after visting friends there. First time I have walked since the infamous golf course built. Sad to see the unatural bright green amongst what was important mobile dune habitat of slacks, dunes and bare sands Once onto the Foveran sands felt a lot better. Trig point surrounded by horses (makes a change form gorse on these lowland points). Could see Meikle Pap on Bennachie.

Trig pillar in good condition, still mostly painted. Spider retains OS cap with stamped font. Flush bracket faces WNW. On grazing land with open outlook to the North Sea. Visited and photographed 30/07/2001, GRP.
