Had completed a long linear walk from St Ives to Marizion yesterday with friends who have now gone home, but I still had time to visit a couple of TPs/YSMs before returning to my daughter's in Porthtowan. On arrival struggled to find this rivet so walked on and up to the nearby trig, and on way back met Malpas Wanderer who had cleverly spotted this rascal of a rivet! On my return, yes I found it too! How this was originally found, and what it was used for [? here or elsewhere] remains a mystery to me! On facing the seat, the rivet is near the edge of the concrete in the bottom RH corner - see photos.

Perhaps my wellies are lucky after changing into them I found the rivet. Typical the path was good and I didn't really need wellies to visit the Trig.

The pea sized rivet was eventually found near the south-east corner of the concrete base of a roadside bench above a narrow lane to the west of Helston. The little blighter proved a little tricky to identify as the recent wet weather had cunningly disguised it as a small stone set into the concrete. From the site Penzance could be seen to the west with mist covered hills beyond. The location is within the Tregonning and Trewavas District of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.

Two for the price of one here. This one, a rivet set into the concrete base of a bench seat and a pillar, YSM116, just a short(ish) walk up the hill behind. You can actually pull off the road and park right next to the seat. The guy in the adjacent property was ‘chatty’ and very interested when I pointed out the rivet and showed him a print-out of the OS webpage. This rivet was remarkably well camouflaged but easily spotted when you know what you’re looking for. As you face the seat, it’s in the near, right hand corner. Nothing much else to say about this one really. The view out towards Lands End was OK, but nothing to look at in any other direction.

This is a rivet. The co-ordinates do not readily assist as they give far too big an area to search. The rivet is actually in the middle of the village, next to the path that leads you up to Tregonning Hill Beacon. It is almost directly in front of a wooden bench on a grassy bank - Good Hunting (took me ages!!)
