As others have said it was set back from the path. The path appears to be the old Roman road from Lincoln to London. I encountered yellow topped posts walking from the car park.

The trig is down the bridle path, along what looks like the old Lincoln to London Roman Road, (I noticed yellow topped wooden markers). Trig is close to the recorded gps data but you will need to claw through the hedgerow to access it as it is set back about 10m from the main path. The observation tower nearby is interesting and the concrete plinths on the ground are arranged in a fascinating way that looks like it would be worthy of an episode of Time Team.

A joint visit with Carole. We parked in the parking area to the north and simply walked south along the bridleway. The pillar is just inside the woodland but can be seen and reached through a very convenient gap in the hedge when opposite it. In good condition and still retains an original metal raised lettered plug.

Trig visible from track, at this time of year anyway. Derelict tower/building just to N perhaps betrays a military past? A quick internet search revealed nothing obvious. G Spinney itself is the small woodland just to the W on the 25k map. Wonder what happened to A to F spinneys..
