Easy to find, right at the side of the lane, parked on the grass verge a very short walk away. Some damage but not bad considering it's close proximity to the residential area of Clowne.

Drove out of Clowne from the central roundabout, crossing the A616 onto a minor road. A small wood is found on the left at SK505763, and the trig is at the eastern end of it, visible from the road.

It's the last trig of the year, back into triple figures just about. Another end of year special trip to Bolsover Castle, perfect wintry skies as a backdrop. Thanks to the person who made the replacement spider. First re-emerging plants heralding the journey to Spring.

Trig set in trees roadside and clearly visible. Damage to the top of the trig around the metalwork. Have read previously that somebody had tried to get the metalwork out of the trig.

Parked on Gapsick Lane. The Pillar can be found at the edge of a copse of trees on Hickingwood Lane. There is extensive damage to the top of the pillar, where some toerag attempted to steal the spider, and stole the cap. Replaced the cap

Parked in the layby on the edge of the copse and walked the short distance along the lane to the pillar. Top is damaged from a failed attempt at spider theft. Good location though.

Stopped off on the way to see Creswell Crags. Easy to find just off the road by an attractive little copse. Metal top is exposed due to vandalism. PS I've since found an old map on which the area is named as Womble Hill, which sounds a lot nicer.

The trig is called 'Gapsick' and the top was covered in what looked like vomit. Probably birdseed swollen in the rain, but it was enough to send the boy back to the car before the photo was taken. Bagged on way to visit family. Easy roadside trig, although the road is quite narrow. Significant damage to top, likely from attempted theft of metalwork. Itchy.

Parked in a lay-by around the corner then walked back to the pillar which is to be found in the hedgerow a short distance down 5he single track lane. Chunks of concrete are missing from the top of the pillar - looks like someone tried and failed to remove the spider. The original centre is missing.

Trig easy to locate at the side of the road, one problem is the road is really narrow and only wide enough for one car, you can squeeze in on the small grass patch in front of the trig if your quick. Looks like someone's tried and failed to remove the spider so sadly it's a sorry looking trig point

(1834) Hickingwood Lane is quite narrow and bendy, but fortunately there is a field entrance just before the copse for parking. No fly tipping today, but quite a bit of damage to the top of the pillar, which seems to be fairly new going by other logs. Someone is evidently keen to have the spider away. The missing centre cap had been asphalted over, but this has now been removed. Pillar history: Built on the 6th of June 1937, at a cost of £6 9s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1983.

Visited during a bike ride last May and found it in a lovely, sun-dappled sylvan setting. Visited it during another bike ride and found the lane full of mud and the trig point surrounded by traffic cones and dumped mattresses. Yuck.

Visited during a bike ride on a lovely May Sunday. Sitting just off the lane in a copse of trees. Notwithstanding the absence of views, I'm scoring this one quite highly, because (today at least) it's beautifully situated - surrounded by newly grown foliage and dappled in sunlight.

Very easy – you could nearly touch the trigpoint without leaving the car – took photo from inside the car to illustrate. The lane is only single track – had to reverse several hundred yards to let a van pass.

Been working in London, but my boss picks me up at Woodall so when I get dropped off it's trig time! Parked in Clowne and found it a nice village, walked down Hickingwood Lane from Station Road, passed a footy game and the dog kennels then the trig is at the side of the lane near the copse. It was the hottest day of the year so far, could see across to the Pennines and I thought the view was half decent really. A good 5 and my first Derbyshire trig, more to come no doubt...

They don't come much easier than this. At side of road so is easily accessible and highly visible. Just a shame that it is also becoming a rubbish dump. Joint visit with Carole. Everything in good order. Concrete plug. Not the best location for views being partly surrounded by woodland.

Site and nearby roads still used as a rubbish tip; trig perhaps fortunate to have suffered no more than a few scuff marks. Concrete plug; 3 sighting holes closed and 1 buried; deep wells on top surface. Hazy and humid.
