Reasonable ascent from the bridleway to the southeast. A gloomy old mid November afternoon but I could still tell that it was an area of great natural beauty.

I have to agree with Glaslyn, the views in this part of Wales are great. From the trig today I was staggered by the 360 degree views. I walked from the Chapel of Coed-Graig-goch and over Lan Uchaf. Good route. My 950th trig and a goodie.

Lovely location tucked away in some of the finest scenery in Wales.Views on a clearer day of Drygarn and the surrounding tops. Parked at end of dead end road at approx SJ 906537.Same approach as mickandshane, but bridleway so overgrown not passable, retraced to forest and then followed fenceline to open hillside.Pillar is stonebuilt in a hollowed out cairn.

We parked at the end of the dead-end road that leads to Penygeulan Quarry off the Beulah to Newbridge road. Follow the bridletrack and just before you get to the forest a waymarker sends you sharp left up a bridle track. This peters out after a while then it's straight up the wooded hillside to the open hilltop and the trig (via a sheepfence). Nice trig, made of local stone (quite rare in this area) set in the middle of a cairn. Good views to the north, of Drygarn Fawr with its two beehive cairns. Plug with raised lettering.
