Planned Nantlle ridge E to W from Rhyd Ddu yesterday but with howling wind it was a no-goer so hiked into Cwm Pennant to Cae Amos bothy for the night, luxurious. With a calm day today, began with a long, long climb up rough hillside meeting shepherds on high ground bringing down sheep for winter and tupping time ( for sheep, 5 months less 5 days so for 1st of April lambs, bring in the rams on 5th November...fire works in more ways than one.----for pigs 3months 3 weeks and 3 days) Pillar just a stump of what it should be and looks like it has been so for many years. Then onward for rest of ridge eastwards.

A great shame this pillar is so neglected since it would be an additional reminder of the very fine Nantile ridge. As it stands, it is dwarf size, no fb or spider and two remnants can be found on the ground by a nearby wall. The final day in N Wales and a super adventure/2 days to finish the trip. One positive thing I can say about this nation, is our ability to find humour in the darkest of days. I gift to a "dolled up" lettuce who hit the news world wide. She deserved it!!

Parked at SH48351 50022 and continued along the track until we reached footbridge. The steps are damaged and a there was a sign stating footpath closed. See photo and make your own risk assessment. We made a slight detour by jumping the culvert and heading to the style over wall. On our back from visiting the trig we did see folk using the bridge with little inconvenience. Totally agree with those who have commented on the views. Would consider a revisit and walking the whole ridge.

Bagged trig on walk taking in Craig Cwm Silyn, Garnedd Goch and Mynydd Graig Goch. Lovely warm weather with good views but slightly hazy, a few others about. Trig looks remarkably intact from north-east approach until you get closer to it and realize it is only half a trig.

Visited as part of a 12 mile Nantlle Ridge walk, little out and back at end. Visibility nil all day, strong winds and heavy rain adding to the fun! pillar about half size damaged, no FB or spider.

Second attempt at the Nantlle Ridge for Andy Withers & myself, first attempt, some years earlier, was curtailed not long after reaching Y Garn by the third member of our party that day who chickened out. He will remain nameless, although the weather that day was worse than horrendous I think we were all thinking an afternoon in the pub might be better. When Andy invited me to join him in Snowdon for another long weekend I suggested we complete the walk we started, so we did, with another friend of Andy's Jez and my faithful Springer Rosie. A great day, good walk, good views - wasn't looking for TPs at this point in my hill-bagging career, so finding the attached photo is a real bonus.

At least one more of the 'bricks' have fallen out fairly recently, certainly since the last logged photo. Found a piece amongst the rubble with a tie-down hook still embedded in it.

Up from Llanllyfni and then down over Mynydd Craig Coch. A moderate but icy wind at the top. Very good views in all directions. Pillar is still standing (just about).

Bottom half only of stone pillar - entire top section & all metalwork missing, including FB. Public. Access Land. Snowdonia National Park. At west end of famous Nantlle Ridge, but most easily & directly reached from Nebo village [be sure to include Mynydd Graig Goch & Craig Cwm Silyn in day's walk]. Still a proud mountain trig, perfectly in keeping with the industrial ruins in this melancholy but magnificent landscape.

is the nantlle ridge the best point to point walk in Wales?... such a varied walk.. i dare say its even better if done from south to north. this trig has had it mind.

Only half a pillar, and no flush bracket as mentioned. Atrocious weather with thick mist and rain- so no views on this, the final summit but one on the Nantlle Ridge. According to the OS, the pillar cost £68.11s. and was completed on 21st April 1953. It's interesting to note that a horse and cart was hired for 6 hours at the cost of £5.10s.

As mentioned the top halve is gone, and the FB socket is empty. No sign of the bits around but its a rocky top so could be quite easily buried. Fine Views today, if a little hazy in far distance.

The top of this local stone trig has been destroyed but the FB was still there at the time of our visit.The Nantlle Ridge is a great walk,especially if you do it both ways as I did, because I couldn't get a taxi to take me back to the car. Shane waited for me in the pub to reappear and got half cut in the process.
