Parked in Builth in the river side carpark and then along the river, the plan was to approach from the N, as other have mentioned the path is non-existent, so we retraced our steps and took to the fields and over to the access land, from there we clambered through head high bracken, eventually reaching the summit, Pillar is in good condition and the views are great, walked back to the S much easier :)

Great little find and easy to reach if you follow this simple route (no obstacles on route). Drive out of Builth on B4520 about 1.5 miles out you'll see a large pull in on the left. Park here- don't try getting closer the roads are too narrow. Then walk down minor road to left take the first left at Dollynwydd. Follow this for about 1km pass Maes Y Cwm and then the ROW is in front of you with a super little ridge walk with fantastic 360 views all around straight to the trig. Really is best route! Sight holes open, FB in place, painted but cap asphalt. Very much like Skirrid but without the steep climb....did I mention the great views.... very much worth a visit!

Parked in layby on A470 near Aberduhonw. Walked to start of RoW after Pont Duhonw. Have to take 2nd gate as too over grown for the 1st. Gave cows a very wide birth and almost caught up to me by the time I reached the next gate. Followed RoW then steep up around the side of Burlip Wood and then on to trig. Amazing views of Builth Wells and all around. Wanting to avoid the cows I thought I'd try a descent through Great Wood and past Dohonw Lodge. As mentioned before was met by brambles but was prepared to be cut to spreads than trampled to death haha but no way through. Took a path not on map that led me through the forest and out to the fields where I had to eventually encounter the cows again. Stealthily crept along close to river but cows were blocking exit to gate. Waving my tripod in the air the cows parted and I lived to tell the tale haha.

Tried to park near stile on minor road (Newry Rd) bit found nowhere suitable and then met a tractor and had to reverse for miles. Thought it was best not to risk the dead end lane and tried from the A470 side. Parked at layby at Aberduhonu and walked up lane opposite to the footpath/bridleway at Penlangrug. Followed this to... The carparking spaces at the end of the aforementioned dead end lane! Kicking myself about time waster as I had somewhere to be. Decided to save time by descending down the A470 side to the footpath at Duhonu lodge. Another big mistake! Cut to ribbons on the brambles, in the end had to skirt round woods on the fields and pick up the footpath further down. Take home tip: check the dead end land for closer parking!!
